Previously: When Marcus tracked down Elena on her remote countryside cabin, he expected to find the woman he left behind—but he never expected to see a six-year-old boy who looked exactly like him.

The Price of Love

Richard stepped forward, his eyes landing on Danny.

"Well, well, Marcus. It seems the rumors were true,"
he sneered, gesturing to his lawyers.
"We have a court order for a paternity test. Once this boy is proven to be yours, you are officially in breach of the trust's moral clause. Your career is over."

Elena felt panic rising, but Marcus did something she never expected. He stepped in front of Elena and Danny, blocking them from Richard's view.

"You don't need a test, Richard,"
Marcus said, his voice calm and resolute. He reached into his suit pocket, pulled out a pen, and snatched the legal documents from Richard's hand. On the hood of his luxury sports car, Marcus quickly signed his own resignation and forfeiture of his shares.

Richard stared at him, dumbfounded.

"What are you doing? You're giving up billions!"

Marcus looked back at Elena, his eyes filled with a sincerity she hadn't seen in six years.

"Six years ago, I was a coward who chose money over the woman I loved,"
he said softly.
"I won't make that mistake twice. Take the company, Richard. It's yours. But you will never touch my son, and you will leave this property immediately."

Stunned and defeated by Marcus's sudden surrender, Richard had no choice but to take the signed papers and leave. As the black SUV sped away, a profound silence fell over the homestead. Marcus turned to Elena, his shoulders slumped, his billionaire empire gone.

"I'm sorry it took me so long to realize what truly mattered,"
he whispered.

Elena looked at the man who had sacrificed everything to protect their son's peace. The anger that had consumed her for years finally began to melt away, replaced by the hope of a true second chance. Sometimes, losing everything is the only way to find what is truly priceless.
