Previously: When a mysterious, disheveled boy approached Claire's wheelchair at a high-society gala, she never expected his touch would make her stand—or that his pendant would reveal a heartbreaking family secret.

A Dark Secret Unveiled

Before Claire could wrap her mind around the boy's words, her husband, Richard, pushed through the crowd. His face was a mask of sheer panic. He grabbed the boy, whose name was Toby, roughly by the arm, pulling him away from Claire.

"Get this street kid out of here!" Richard shouted, his voice shaking as he signaled for security. "Claire, sit down, you're going to hurt yourself!"

But Claire ignored him. For the first time in three years, she was standing on her own two feet, and she wasn't about to sit back down. As Richard dragged Toby away, a folded piece of paper slipped from the boy's pocket and fluttered to the floor. Claire quickly bent down and snatched it.

It was a medical record accompanied by a letter written in a familiar, elegant cursive. It was Sarah's handwriting. With trembling fingers, Claire opened the letter as the guests watched in hushed anticipation.

"Claire, if you are reading this, it means the truth has finally found you," the letter began. "Toby is my son, whom I had to hide for his own safety. Richard found out about my pregnancy and threatened to ruin me. But there is a darker truth. The car accident that paralyzed you and killed me was not an accident. Richard cut the brake lines of your car, intending to kill us both to inherit our family's fortune. Toby has my heart—literally. He was born with a severe heart defect, and when I died, my heart was transplanted into him. He carries my soul, Claire. Trust him. He knows what Richard did."

Claire looked up from the paper, her world shattering into a million pieces. She looked at Richard, who was pale, staring at the letter in her hand with absolute terror.

"Claire, sweetheart, don't believe that," Richard stammered, taking a step toward her. "It's a hoax. Sarah was unstable!"

But the truth was written in the medical documents. Toby wasn't just a random child; he was her nephew, carrying her twin sister's heart. And her husband was a cold-blooded attempted murderer.
