Inside, resting on a velvet shelf, was not a stack of cash, but a dusty leather binder and a small, silver locket. Arthur's face drained of color, turning as white as his pristine silk pocket square. He lunged forward, trying to slam the safe door shut, but Charles stepped in his way, his eyes wide with astonishment.
