The DNA Report That Shattered My Stepfather's Lies — His Mistress Never Saw It Coming
Previously: A dying billionaire's mistress tries to disinherit his 7-year-old granddaughter with a forged custody waiver. But the child holds a sealed forensic envelope that could expose everything — and change the family forever.
The Certificate That Could Destroy Everything
Alexander stared at the text message, his mind reeling. A different father? It couldn't be. The DNA test, the letters, the affidavit — everything pointed to him. But Vanessa's lawyer was threatening to produce a birth certificate that could unravel it all.
"What does it mean?" Aria asked, her voice small and scared.

"It means Vanessa is trying to play her last card," Alexander said, his voice tight. "She's trying to make me believe you're not mine."
"But you know the truth," Aria said, her eyes pleading. "You have the real DNA test."
Alexander nodded, but he knew that in a court of law, a forged birth certificate could cause chaos, even if it was later proven fake. He had to act fast.
He called his lawyer, a ruthless woman named Sarah, who had been with him for years. She listened calmly, then said, "We need to get that birth certificate. If it's fake, we'll prove it. But we need to see it first."
They drove back to the estate, the mood tense. Aria sat in the back seat, clutching the safety deposit box key as if it were a lifeline. Alexander's mind was racing, planning his next move.
When they arrived, they found Vanessa's lawyer waiting in the foyer, a smug smile on his face. He held a manila envelope, and his eyes glinted with malice.
"Mr. Blackwood," he said, "I think you'll want to see this."
Alexander took the envelope, his hands steady despite the fury burning inside him. He opened it, pulling out a birth certificate. The name at the top was Aria, but the father's name was not his. It was a man Alexander had never heard of, a man who had died years ago in a prison fight.
"This is a lie," Alexander said, his voice low. "Aria is my daughter. I have the DNA test."
"That DNA test was fabricated," the lawyer said, his smile widening. "The lab clerk has already confessed. The real test, the one from the hospital, shows no match."
Alexander's blood boiled. "You're lying."
"Am I?" the lawyer said, pulling out another document. "This is a sworn statement from the lab clerk, recanting his earlier testimony. He says he was bribed — but not by us. By you."
Alexander's jaw dropped. The lawyer was twisting everything, making it look like Alexander had paid the clerk to fake the DNA test. It was a brilliant, evil move.
"You can't do this," Alexander said. "I have the real test."
"Do you?" the lawyer said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Let's see it."
Alexander reached into his pocket, but the safety deposit box key was there, not the test. He had left the documents at the bank, in the box. He had been so focused on getting the birth certificate that he had forgotten the most important piece of evidence.
"I need to go back," he said, his voice strained. "The test is in the safety deposit box."
"Too late," the lawyer said. "The bank is closed. And even if you get it, the judge will see it as a forgery, because we have the clerk's confession."
Aria tugged at Alexander's sleeve. "Daddy, the photo," she whispered. "The one in the box."
Alexander frowned. "What photo?"
"The one of my mother," Aria said. "It was in the box. Maybe it has something on the back."
Alexander's eyes widened. He had seen the photograph but hadn't thought to turn it over. He pulled out his phone, scrolling through the pictures he had taken of the documents. There it was, the photograph, and on the back, written in Emily's handwriting, was a name and a date.
"The name of the man on the birth certificate," Alexander read aloud. "And a note: 'He was never her father. He was my brother, who died before Aria was born. I used his name to protect her from Vanessa.'"
The lawyer's face went pale. He hadn't expected that. "That's fake," he sputtered. "You're making that up."
"No," Alexander said, his voice steady now. "It's real. And it proves that Aria's father is me, because Emily was my wife, and the man on the certificate was her brother, who was never in the picture."
The lawyer stumbled backward, his confidence crumbling. "This changes nothing," he said, but his voice was weak.
"It changes everything," Alexander said. "It proves that Vanessa forged the birth certificate to try to take Aria from me. And it proves that she killed Emily to get to my fortune."
The lawyer's mouth opened and closed, but no words came out. Alexander turned to Aria, pulling her into his arms. "We're going to be okay, sweetheart. I promise."
But even as he said it, he knew the fight wasn't over. Vanessa was still in custody, but her lawyer was still free. And there was still the matter of the missing DNA test, the real one, which was locked in the bank.
"We need to get that test," Alexander said. "Tomorrow morning, first thing."
Aria nodded, her eyes bright with hope. "And then we'll be a family."
Alexander smiled, a rare, genuine smile. "Yes, we will."
He looked at the lawyer, who was now sweating, and said, "You can tell Vanessa that her game is over. She's going to prison for a long time, and Aria is going to inherit everything."
The lawyer opened his mouth to protest, but Alexander cut him off. "Get out of my house."
The lawyer fled, and Alexander turned back to Aria. "Come on, sweetheart. Let's go get that test."
But as they walked out the door, Alexander's phone buzzed again. This time, it was a message from an unknown number, with a single line: "You think you've won, but you've only just begun."
Alexander froze, his heart sinking. He looked at Aria, who was watching him with concern. "What is it, Daddy?"
He forced a smile. "Nothing, sweetheart. Just a wrong number."
But he knew it wasn't. The game was far from over, and Vanessa had one more move to play. The final twist was still to come, and it would change everything they thought they knew.
As they drove to the bank, the morning sun breaking through the clouds, Alexander held Aria's hand and made a silent vow: he would protect her, no matter what. And he would make sure that Vanessa never hurt anyone again.
The end.
