The Foster Mother Took My Coat, Then the Billionaire Saw My Locket
Previously: Rita thought she could break me with a stolen coat. But when the billionaire couple knelt on the wet floor and saw my locket, her world shattered — and mine began.
The car ride was silent, but not uncomfortable. Eleanor held me on her lap, her fingers stroking my braids like she was memorizing the feel of them. Arthur sat beside us, his jaw tight, his hand never leaving mine.
"We never stopped looking," he said hoarsely. "Six years. Every missing child report, every foster home, every dead end."

I didn't know what to say. I was still trying to understand that I wasn't just Maya. I was their daughter. The Sterling heiress they'd lost to a hospital fire that supposedly killed me.

Eleanor looked at it again. Then at Arthur. "This locket was in the hospital safe. Only one person had access."
Arthur stared at her. His knuckles went white.
The door opened. A man walked in — tall, silver-haired, wearing a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "I heard we found the little one," he said. "What a miraculous reunion."
It was Arthur's brother. Uncle Victor.
"Victor," Arthur said, stepping in front of me. "Why are you here?"
Victor's smile widened. "Because I know exactly how your daughter survived that fire. And I know who paid Rita to keep her hidden."
He looked at me.
"She's not the only one with a locket, brother."
And he pulled out a matching silver anchor from his pocket.
