Previously: When a young boy walked into Arthur's antique shop to sell a family heirloom for his sick mother's medicine, the old shopkeeper never expected to find his own long-lost daughter.

A Terrifying Discovery

Arthur did not hesitate. He flipped the sign on his shop door to "Closed," grabbed his coat, and followed Leo into the pouring rain. His mind was a storm of questions and emotions. How could his daughter be so close? Why hadn't she ever come home? Leo led him through the damp, grey streets of the city to a run-down apartment building on the edge of town, where the paint was peeling and the hallways smelled of damp concrete.

They climbed the creaking stairs to the third floor. Leo opened the door to a cramped, chilly apartment. In the corner, lying on a worn-out sofa under a thin blanket, was a pale, fragile woman. She was coughing weakly, her face hollowed by illness. But when she turned her head and her eyes met Arthur's, there was no mistaking her. It was Sarah.

Arthur took a step forward, his eyes filling with tears.

"Sarah? Oh my god, Sarah, it's you,"
he whispered, reaching out. But instead of running into his arms, Sarah shrank back in terror, her face turning white.
"Dad? No, no, you can't be here!"
she cried, her voice trembling with panic.
"You have to leave right now! If he finds out, he'll kill us!"

Before Arthur could ask who she was talking about, the heavy wooden door of the apartment slammed open behind them. A tall, imposing man with cold eyes and a dark leather jacket stepped into the room. He looked at Arthur, then at the gold pocket watch still gripped tightly in Arthur’s hand. A cruel, menacing sneer spread across his face.

"Well, look what we have here,"
the man growled, stepping forward and locking the door behind him.
"The old man finally tracked us down. I knew that watch would bring trouble eventually."
Arthur realized with a jolt of horror that his daughter had never run away—she had been kept captive by this monster for over a decade.
