The Wire Transfer Led to My Sister's Private Account

The next morning, I sat in my study, the forensic report spread across my desk. Noah was at school, and the house felt emptier without him. My lawyer, Marcus, had traced the wire transfers to a second account — one that made my stomach churn.

It belonged to my sister, Eleanor. Trevor's wife. My own blood.

Eleanor had always been jealous of my success. She saw the company as her birthright, but our father had left it to me. Now she was conspiring with her husband to take it from my son.

I drove to her penthouse on Fifth Avenue, and the doorman recognized me. He let me up without a word. She was waiting in the living room, a glass of wine in her hand, dressed in silk. She looked at me with cold eyes.

"I wondered when you'd figure it out," she said.

I held up the wire-transfer records. "You paid the lab clerk. You and Trevor. You forged the DNA test to disinherit Noah."

She laughed. "He's not your son, Nathaniel. You know that. You and that waitress — it was a fling. She got pregnant, and you were too noble to get a test."

I stepped closer. "I did get a test. Yesterday. 99.999% match. Noah is mine. And you knew that when you forged the exclusion."

Her smile faded. "So you found out. But it doesn't matter. The board will see the forged report, and they'll believe it. I have allies on the board, Nathaniel. You're finished."

I shook my head. "You're finished, Eleanor. You and Trevor are going to prison for fraud and conspiracy. I have evidence that goes back years — the embezzlement, the offshore accounts."

She paled. "You wouldn't. I'm your sister."

"You stopped being my sister the day you tried to hurt my son."

I left her standing there, her wine glass trembling in her hand. But I knew she wouldn't give up. She had one more card to play — something that could destroy Noah's trust in me.

That afternoon, I got a call from Noah's school. He had been taken out of class by a woman claiming to be his aunt. My heart nearly stopped. I raced to the school, but Eleanor was already gone.

I called the police, and they traced her car to the old Prescott estate in the Hamptons. She had Noah locked in the library. I drove there with my security team, my mind racing with fear.

When I arrived, the house was dark. I entered through the back door, my footsteps silent on the hardwood. I heard Eleanor's voice from the library, raised in anger. "You're not his son! He's not your father!"

Noah's voice was small but defiant. "He is. He believed me when no one else did."

I pushed open the door. Eleanor was standing over Noah, her face contorted with rage. She spun around when she saw me. "Nathaniel! Stay back, or I'll tell him the truth about his mother."

I froze. That was the thing I had never told Noah — that his mother had died in a car accident, but not before she had signed away her rights. She had been paid to disappear, and I had never told him the full story.

"What truth?" Noah asked, his voice trembling.

I looked at my son, and I knew I had to tell him everything. But not here. Not with Eleanor poisoning it.

"Let him go, Eleanor. You've lost."

She laughed. "Lost? I haven't even started." She pulled a small device from her pocket — a remote trigger. "The house is wired. If I press this, it goes up in flames. And you'll both burn."

My blood ran cold. "You're insane."

"Maybe. But I'm not going to prison."

I saw Noah slide something out of his pocket — his phone. He was texting someone. I prayed it was the police. I kept Eleanor talking, my eyes fixed on her thumb hovering over the button.

"Why, Eleanor? Why go this far?"

"Because I deserve it!" she screamed. "The company, the money — it should be mine! Father always favored you, but I was the one who worked for it. I was the one who married Trevor to get you in the family."

"You married Trevor to control me," I said. "But it didn't work."

"No," she said, her voice dropping. "It didn't. So I'll take everything from you instead."

I saw the police lights through the window. Eleanor saw them too. Her eyes widened, and her thumb pressed down on the button.
