Previously: When Prince Gabriel was forced to marry Princess Victoria, he never expected her head to be locked inside a wooden barrel—until he opened the latch and discovered the dark royal secret.

The Voice of Justice

Gabriel looked at the cold steel of the guards' blades, then down at Victoria's terrified eyes. He knew that submission meant a slow, agonizing death for them both. Feigning defeat, he dropped to his knees. "I yield, Your Majesty," Gabriel whispered, bowing his head. King William smiled triumphantly and signaled the guards to lower their weapons. It was the mistake Gabriel was waiting for.

With a sudden, explosive movement, Gabriel grabbed the heavy wooden barrel from the table and hurled it directly at the lead guard. The heavy oak smashed into the man's chest, sending him crashing into the others. In the chaos, Gabriel seized the guard's dropped dagger. Instead of attacking the king, he turned to Victoria. With precise, trembling hands, he sliced the golden threads binding her lips. Victoria gasped, taking her first free breath in years.

Before the guards could recover, Victoria lunged toward the heavy velvet curtains hanging over the balcony. She pulled them down, exposing the grand courtyard below where the kingdom's high lords were still celebrating the wedding. With her voice finally restored, she screamed the truth to the crowd below.

"My father is a traitor! He poisoned the council and seeks to destroy us all!" her voice rang out, clear and powerful.

The shockwave was instantaneous. The lords below drew their swords, demanding entry to the tower. Realizing his reign of terror was over, King William fell to his knees as his own guards abandoned him. Gabriel took Victoria's hand, no longer a captive, but a survivor. True royalty is not defined by the crowns we wear, but by the courage we find to speak the truth in the face of absolute darkness.
