Previously: Sentenced to face a monstrous black lion in the royal arena, nineteen-year-old Leo prepared for death—until the beast recognized the scar of the kingdom's greatest forgotten hero.

The True King Arises

From the opening beneath the arena floor, a figure stepped into the blinding sunlight. He was gaunt, his hair long and gray, his wrists bound in heavy iron chains. Yet, his posture remained unbroken. It was Commander Marcus, alive despite a decade of reported death. The crowd fell into a stunned, reverent silence. The black lion let out a low, joyful rumble and bounded toward the old man, resting its massive head against Marcus's chained hands.

King Robert fell back onto his throne, his face white with defeat. The high cleric tried to slip away through the back of the royal box, but the angry spectators blocked his escape. The guards in the arena slowly lowered their spears, one by one, and knelt before the true savior of the realm and his brave son.

"Your lies have run their course, Robert," Marcus said, his voice raspy but carrying the undeniable authority of a true leader. "The kingdom knows the truth now."

The royal guards turned their weapons toward the balcony, arresting the false king and his corrupt cleric. The crowd poured into the arena, lifting Leo and his father onto their shoulders in a triumphant celebration of justice long overdue. Leo looked at the massive black lion walking faithfully by his side, realizing that the truth, no matter how deeply buried, would always find a way to the light.

In the end, Leo and Marcus rebuilt the kingdom not with fear and deceit, but with the honor that had once been stolen from them. True strength is not found in the crowns we wear, but in the truth we carry in our hearts, which no lie can ever truly erase.
