The Man Who Saved Me From My Husband Revealed a Lifetime of Secrets
A Cry for Help
The gravel driveway of the sprawling suburban estate glistened under the bright afternoon sun, but the atmosphere was suffocatingly dark. Emily, heavily pregnant and wearing her favorite emerald green maternity dress, lay trembling on the cold ground. Her breath came in ragged, panicked gasps as she clutched her swollen belly, desperately trying to shield her unborn child from the man she once promised to love forever.
Standing over her was David, her husband. Dressed in a sharp navy blazer and a perfectly knotted tie, his polished exterior completely contradicted the raw malice in his eyes. He grabbed a handful of her hair, pulling her head back with a cruel yank that made her gasp in pain.
"You're done, Emily! You think you can just walk away from me and take what is mine?"
David roared, his face contorted in rage. He had spent months controlling her, isolating her from everyone she knew, but today she had finally tried to run.
Emily’s eyes welled with tears as she looked up at the man who had become her worst nightmare. The dark grey SUV parked nearby was supposed to be her escape vehicle, but he had caught her before she could even open the door.
"Stop, please! Think about the baby!"
she screamed, her voice cracking with pure terror. But David’s grip only tightened.
Suddenly, the heavy iron gates of the mansion swung open. A silver-haired man in a tailored charcoal overcoat rushed down the driveway. It was Arthur, a wealthy neighbor who lived in the secluded estate next door. Seeing the violence unfolding, Arthur didn't hesitate. With surprising strength, he sprinted forward and slammed his shoulder into David, throwing the younger man off balance and sending him stumbling backward.
"Get away from her!"
Arthur bellowed, his voice booming across the lawn. Before David could recover, Arthur dropped to his knees, wrapping his arms around Emily in a protective embrace. "You're safe now," he whispered, but his eyes remained locked on David with absolute fury.
