Previously: A cruel foster mother's kick reveals a hidden truth: the ragged blanket clutched by a shivering 5-year-old is the key to a billionaire's long-lost daughter.

The Truth in the Blanket

Sebastian didn't sleep that night. He sat in his study, staring at the blanket, running his fingers over the crest. There was something he was missing, something Victor had said. "The other half of the blanket. The rest of the clue."

He took out a magnifying glass and examined the embroidery more closely. The oak branches were intricate, but there was a pattern hidden in the leaves—tiny numbers, almost invisible. He transcribed them: 14-2-19-20-1-18-4.

"Bastard," he whispered. "It's a map."

He cross-referenced the numbers with a city map. They led to an old warehouse on the docks. A place Victor used to own. Sebastian grabbed his coat and keys.

"Where are you going?" Madeline asked, standing in the doorway, her face pale and tired.

"To find our son," he said. "Stay with Sophie. I'll call you."

"No," she said. "I'm coming with you."

They drove in silence, the rain hammering against the windshield. The warehouse loomed ahead, dark and abandoned. Sebastian kicked open the door, the sound echoing in the empty space.

"Victor!" he shouted. "I know you're here!"

A light flickered on. Victor stood in the center of the room, a boy of about five years old beside him. The boy had the same golden curls as Sophie, the same hazel eyes. He was crying.

"Daddy?" the boy whispered.

Sebastian's heart shattered. "Liam."

Victor laughed. "See? I told you. Now, do we have a deal?"

Sebastian pulled out his phone. "I have a better idea. I've been recording this conversation. And I have your bank records, your emails, and a witness who saw you take the children from the hospital. You're done, Victor."

Victor's smile faltered. "You're bluffing."

"Am I?" Sebastian pressed a button. The sound of Victor's voice filled the room, confessing everything. "I have enough to put you away for life."

Victor lunged, but Sebastian was faster. He tackled him to the ground, and within minutes, the police arrived. The officers handcuffed Victor, his face twisted with rage.

"You'll never be happy," he spat.

"I already am," Sebastian said, pulling Liam into his arms.

Back at the mansion, Sophie and Liam met for the first time. They stared at each other, then Sophie held out the blanket. "It's yours," she said. "It has both our names."

Liam smiled, tears streaming down his face. "I always knew I had a sister."

Madeline wrapped her arms around them both. "We're a family now. Nothing will ever tear us apart again."

Sebastian stood back, watching, his heart full. He thought about all the years lost, the pain, the lies. But in that moment, none of it mattered. He had found his children. And he would spend the rest of his life making up for it.

That night, as the rain finally stopped, Sophie asked, "Daddy, will the bad man come back?"

"No, sweetheart," Sebastian said, his voice steady. "He's gone forever. And I'll always be here to protect you."

Sophie smiled, her eyes drooping with sleep. "I love you, Daddy."

"I love you too, princess. More than you'll ever know."

The Cole family lay together in the big bed, a tangle of arms and legs, the silk blanket spread over them like a shield. And for the first time in five years, they all slept peacefully.

In the morning, Sebastian would call his lawyers, his board, and the press. He would tell the world what Victor had done, and he would fight to change the foster system that had failed so many children. But for now, he just held his children, and he let himself feel the joy of having them home.

It wasn't the ending he had imagined, but it was the one he had fought for. And it was enough.
