Previously: When Frances stomped her granddaughter's birthday cake, her son Jason was furious. But a hidden ingredient revealed a terrifying truth that saved a little girl's life.

The Secret Behind the Frosting

The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife. Guests began to quietly excuse themselves, leaving only Jason, his crying daughter, his mother Frances, and his fiancé, Clara. Clara immediately rushed to Jason's side, tears welling in her eyes as she comforted him. "I spent all night baking that chocolate cake for Olivia," Clara sobbed, burying her face in Jason's shoulder. "Why would your mother do this to us? She has always hated me!"

Jason glared at his mother, his hands shaking.

"Get out of my house, Mom,"
he hissed, his voice cold and unwavering.
"I don't care what your excuse is. You terrified my daughter and ruined her birthday. You are no longer welcome here."

But Frances stood up, brushing the dust off her skirt. Despite the physical shock of being shoved, her eyes were sharp and filled with a fierce, protective maternal instinct. She pointed a trembling finger not at Jason, but at Clara.

"You think I'm crazy, Jason? Ask your precious fiancé what she put in that cake. Ask her why she insisted on baking a chocolate peanut-butter cake when she knows Olivia has an anaphylactic allergy to nuts!"

Jason frowned, looking between his mother and Clara. "What are you talking about? Clara made a pure chocolate fudge cake. She promised me there were no nuts in the kitchen." Frances walked over to the stomped cake, kneeling down to pick up a chunk of the ruined dessert. She broke it apart, revealing a thick, hidden layer of crunchy peanut butter concealed beneath the dark chocolate frosting. Clara’s face instantly drained of all color.
