Previously: When 66-year-old Martha walked into a notorious biker bar, she knew she was risking her life. But the vintage vest under her jacket held a secret that would stop the toughest man inside dead in his tracks.

The Secret in the Back Room

The silence in the tavern was deafening. Roy stared at the vintage vest as if he were looking at a ghost. Without another word, he grabbed Martha gently by the elbow and guided her past the whispering patrons into the dimly lit back office, slamming the heavy wooden door shut behind them. He locked it with a sharp click, then turned to her, his chest heaving.

"My god, Martha,"
Roy said, his voice trembling.
"I never thought I'd see that vest again. Or you."

Martha gasped.

"You know who I am?"

Roy nodded, sinking into a worn leather chair.

"Jesse was my older brother. He talked about you constantly before he vanished. But he had to leave to protect you."
He explained that thirty years ago, the club's co-founder, a ruthless man named Vance, had tried to turn the Road Reapers into a violent criminal syndicate. Jesse had refused to go along with it. To force Jesse's hand, Vance had threatened Martha's life. To save her, Jesse had staged his own fatal motorcycle accident and fled into the night, leaving the vest with Martha as a silent promise that he would always love her.

"But why did I get an anonymous letter telling me to bring the vest here tonight?"
Martha asked, her mind spinning with the sudden revelation.

Roy's eyes widened in sudden panic.

"Because Vance is still looking for it. The original deed to the club's land—worth millions now—is hidden inside the lining of that vest. If Vance finds out you're here..."

Before Roy could finish his sentence, the doorknob rattled violently. A heavy boot kicked the bottom of the door, and a cold, raspy voice echoed from the hallway.

"Roy! Open this door! I know someone just walked in here with Jesse's old colors!"
It was Vance, and he sounded furious.
