Previously: While mourning their twin boys at a desolate graveyard, Sarah and John receive a shocking revelation from a mysterious girl that leads them to a dark, hidden secret.

The Secrets of St. Jude’s

Without looking back, the mysterious girl led Sarah and John through the dense, overgrown woods. The branches clawed at Sarah’s coat, but she felt no pain, driven entirely by an overwhelming instinct. Deep within the forest stood the decaying brick facade of St. Jude’s Home for Children. It was an imposing, gothic structure that had supposedly been closed and abandoned after a severe fire a decade ago. Its windows were boarded up, and the main iron gates were chained shut.

But Lily, the strange girl, knew another way. She slipped effortlessly through a gap in the rusted cellar grating. John pried the iron bars further apart, allowing Sarah and himself to scramble down into the pitch-black basement. The air inside was freezing and heavy with the scent of mildew and old paper. John clicked on his phone's flashlight, illuminating a long, damp corridor lined with peeling wallpaper.

Suddenly, the faint sound of children’s giggles echoed through the dark. Sarah froze, her breath catching in her throat. The sound was distinct, melodic, and unmistakably real. Lily pointed toward a heavy wooden door at the end of the hall, secured by a rusted padlock that had been broken open.

John pushed the door open. Inside, sitting on two small cots under a single flickering lightbulb, were two toddler boys. They had bright red hair and deep blue eyes—an identical match to the genetic traits of Sarah and John. The boys looked up, offering innocent, curious smiles.

"My babies," Sarah whispered, collapsing to her knees as tears of joy flooded her eyes.

But before they could cross the room, the heavy door slammed shut behind them. A harsh, mocking laugh cut through the damp air.

"I must admit, I didn't expect you to find this place," a cold voice sneered.

Sarah and John spun around to see Mrs. Gable, the ruthless former director of the private clinic where Sarah had given birth. She stood in the doorway, flanked by two burly security guards holding heavy flashlights and batons. In her hand, Mrs. Gable held a syringe filled with a clear liquid.

"These children are officially deceased," Mrs. Gable said with a sinister smile. "And trespassing on private property is a very dangerous crime."
