Previously: When a corrupt officer frames elite K9 trainer Amanda to seize her dogs, he expects her to break. Instead, the deadly pack turns on their new handlers to protect their true alpha.

A Deadly Standoff

Humiliated in front of his entire squad, William’s smugness instantly vanished, replaced by a frantic, blinding rage. He couldn't allow a prisoner in orange scrubs to make a mockery of his authority. His hand flew to his holster, drawing his service weapon and pointing it directly at Amanda’s chest. The officers in the background tensed, their hands hovering over their own weapons as the atmosphere on the wet compound turned lethal.

"Get those beasts away from you, Amanda, or I swear I will put them down right here!" William screamed, his voice cracking under the pressure.

The four German Shepherds let out a low, vibrating growl, their ears flattening as they sensed the immediate threat to their alpha. Amanda placed a gentle hand on Shadow's head, keeping the pack steady. She knew that one wrong move would trigger a bloodbath, and she refused to let her loyal dogs pay the price for William's corruption.

"Go ahead, William," Amanda said, her voice remarkably steady. "Shoot them. Shoot me. But you should know that Officer Lewis isn't the only one who has been asking questions about your sudden interest in the K9 retirement program."

William’s eyes widened slightly, a flicker of panic crossing his features. Amanda seized the moment, raising her voice so every officer on the compound could hear. She revealed that she had discovered William's secret ledger—proof that he was illegally selling highly trained, retired police dogs to private mercenary groups overseas for hundreds of thousands of dollars. She had been framed because she refused to sign off on the fake veterinary disposal records.

Officer Lewis stepped forward, his expression hardening as he looked between Amanda and his superior. The pieces of the puzzle were finally falling into place for the young officer.

"Is this true, William?" Lewis demanded, his hand moving to his own badge. "Is that why you rushed her arrest without a proper warrant?"

Cornered and desperate, William tightened his grip on his gun, realizing his entire empire was about to crumble.
