Previously: When Clara's husband and his business partner forced her to act as a human table during an elite dinner, they thought she was broken. They didn't know she held the keys to their destruction.

The Price of Arrogance

Julian scrambled to his feet, his dark grey suit stained with red wine that looked remarkably like blood. His face was twisted in fury as he brushed off the glass shards. Marcus was still groaning on the floor, nursing a bruised elbow.

"Are you insane, Clara?!" Julian roared, stepping toward her with his fist clenched. "You just ruined a ten-million-dollar celebration! You are nothing without me, and I will make sure you end up on the streets!"

Clara didn't flinch. For the first time in a decade, she felt absolutely no fear. She reached into the pocket of her silver-grey dress and pulled out a small, sleek black flash drive, tossing it onto the desk between them.

Julian stared at it, his anger suddenly faltering, replaced by a flicker of unease.

"What is that?" Marcus muttered, trying to stand up and wiping wine from his forehead.

Clara smiled, a cold, sharp expression. "That, Julian, is the complete ledger of your offshore accounts," she said, her voice steady and lethal. "Along with the forged signatures you used to embezzle funds from your primary investors. I might have been quiet, but I was never blind. While you were planning how to humiliate me, I was securing my freedom."

The color drained completely from Julian's face. He knew exactly what was on that drive. If those files were leaked, not only would the merger collapse, but both he and Marcus would be facing federal prison sentences. The power dynamic in the room shifted instantly. The two powerful executives suddenly looked like terrified children trapped in a corner.

Clara watched them squirm, enjoying every second of their panic. She had spent months gathering the evidence, waiting for the right moment. Their cruel game tonight had simply given her the final push she needed to set her plan into motion.
