They Tried to Humiliate Me at the Military Outpost, But My True Identity Saved Me
Previously: When Sergeant Tyler tried to publicly humiliate Megan by shaving her head at a dusty military outpost, he thought he was breaking a rebellious soldier. He had no idea who she really was.
The Unmasking
Colonel Vance, the head of the military police, strode into the clearing. Beside him was a civilian in a sharp dark suit carrying a heavy leather briefcase. Tyler’s arrogant posture vanished instantly, replaced by a rigid, frantic salute. He tried to explain that Megan was a thief who had stolen sensitive tactical data, but Vance ignored him entirely. Instead, the Colonel knelt in the dust right in front of Megan.
"Are you alright, Ma'am?" Colonel Vance asked, his voice thick with respect.
The gathered crowd gasped. Tyler took a step back, his face turning pale. Before he could speak, the civilian investigator stepped forward, opening his briefcase to reveal a badge from the Defense Criminal Investigative Service.

"Sergeant Tyler, you are under the mistaken impression that you are dealing with Private Megan Carter," the investigator declared. "Let me introduce you to Special Agent Megan Carter. She has spent the last six months undercover, tracking your black-market smuggling ring."
Panic flickered in Tyler’s eyes, but he quickly recovered. He lunged forward, pulling a thick folder from his cargo pants. He held up a stack of documents with Megan’s signatures, claiming she was the true mastermind behind the thefts and was trying to frame him.
The Colonel frowned, examining the forged papers. Tyler’s smug grin began to return. He believed his elaborate cover-up would save him. The forged signatures looked flawless, and without immediate proof of forgery, the Colonel would have to detain them both. But Megan simply smiled.
"You really thought you were clever, Tyler," Megan said, her voice echoing in the silent lot. "But you made one fatal mistake when you forged those documents."
Tyler stared at her, his confidence faltering as he demanded to know what she meant. Megan nodded toward the files in the Colonel's hands, ready to deliver the final blow to his elaborate lie.
