The paramedics arrived quickly, stabilizing Margaret and rushing her to the hospital. Thankfully, she was conscious, though in immense pain from a fractured hip. Samantha insisted on staying at the hospital, but she needed to return home briefly to gather her mother's insurance card and personal belongings. James had volunteered to go back and "clean up the mess," but his frantic demeanor made Samantha uneasy.
