Undercover CEO Exposes Corrupt Foreman, But His Revenge Was Far Worse Than She Imagined
The Midnight Storm
The grand marble lobby of the five-star hotel was eerily silent, save for the symphony of the midnight thunderstorm raging outside. Torrents of rain hammered against the towering glass panels, each gust punctuated by the jagged flash of lightning that briefly illuminated the opulent space. Veined Calacatta marble floors reflected the dripping crystal chandeliers, their light shimmering on gilded brass moldings. Rolling thunder bass rumbles echoed, mingling with the distinct squeak of wet boots on polished stone. It was here, amidst this dramatic backdrop, that Carter Ross, a man built like a brick wall, confronted Lily Vance.
Carter, his face a rugged landscape of stubble and weathered skin, towered over Lily. His soaked canvas safety jacket and grimy hi-vis vest did little to hide the menace radiating from him. Lily, younger and seemingly more fragile, had porcelain skin smudged with industrial grease. Dark, wet strands of hair clung to her face, framing piercing hazel eyes. Her oversized, rain-drenched steel-mill boiler suit seemed a stark contrast to the delicate Italian silk blouse peeking from beneath its collar. Carter's eyes, hard and unforgiving, locked onto hers.

"You’re pathetic, rookie! A piece of gutter trash who won't last one shift on my smelting floor!"
He shoved Lily backward with brutal force. The sound of her shoulder striking the cold, fluted marble column was a resonant thud. Rainwater sprayed from his collar as she gasped, her breath hitching sharply. He thrust an oil-stained finger, inches from her quivering chin, his neck veins bulging with exertion and rage. Lily remained silent, her mouth firmly closed, tears welling convincingly along her lower eyelids, her chin trembling in simulated terror.
