Previously: When Evelyn walked into a rough roadside biker bar wearing a vintage leather vest, she knew she was risking her life—but the truth about her husband's disappearance was worth it.

Justice for the Ghost

Evelyn felt no fear as she walked back out into the smoky bar, Butch flanking her like a protective iron wall. She marched straight toward the elevated VIP booth where Marcus sat. Marcus was an older man now, his beard silver and his eyes cold, surrounded by loyal enforcers. When he saw Evelyn wearing the founder's vest, his face turned the color of ash. He tried to stand, but Butch’s massive hand slammed down on his shoulder, pinning him to the leather booth.

"What is the meaning of this?"
Marcus hissed, trying to maintain his authority.
"Get this woman out of here!"

Butch raised his voice, a booming roar that silenced the entire bar.

"Forty years ago, we were told Tommy Vance was a traitor who stole our money and ran. But three days ago, we found Tommy's body behind the basement wall. And we found the old brass key to the treasury box still clutched in his hand. A key that only two men possessed—Tommy, and his vice president, Marcus."

A collective gasp echoed through the room. The younger bikers looked at Marcus with dawning horror, while the older veterans clutched their fists. Marcus began to stammer, his eyes darting toward the exit, but the heavy-set bikers blocked every door. There was nowhere left to run. Butch turned to Evelyn, bowing his head in deep respect.

"Your husband was a hero, Evelyn. His name is cleared tonight. And this monster will finally pay for what he did."

The police arrived shortly after, led away by several of the club's own members who refused to protect a murderer. As Marcus was led out in handcuffs, Evelyn looked up at the neon light, feeling a warm, gentle breeze wash over her. The forty-year weight was finally lifted from her shoulders. True love and honor can never be buried forever; eventually, the light always finds its way through the darkest concrete.
