We Mourned Our Twin Boys for Three Years Until a Mysterious Girl Revealed the Truth
Previously: After three agonizing years of grieving their lost twin boys, Sarah and John are approached by a strange girl at the graveyard who claims the brothers are still alive.
The Secrets of St. Jude's
The young girl, who introduced herself as Lily, led them through the winding, mist-shrouded streets of the town to a looming gothic structure on the outskirts. St. Jude’s Home for Children looked abandoned, its dark brick facade covered in dying ivy. Yet, as they pushed open the heavy wooden doors, they found the interior pristine, cold, and quiet. The air smelled of floor wax and old secrets.
Before they could call out, an elderly woman in a severe dark dress stepped into the foyer. Her face drained of color the moment her eyes landed on Sarah and John. "You shouldn't be here," she whispered, her voice trembling. "This is private property. You must leave immediately."
John took a step forward, his grief transforming into a fierce, protective anger. "Where are our sons?" he demanded. "A girl told us they are here. Leo and Toby!"
"There are no such children here!" the woman hissed, her eyes darting nervously toward the grand staircase. "Leave, or I will call the police!"
But Sarah’s ears were tuned to a different frequency. From the upper floor, she heard a faint, distinct sound—the unmistakable, synchronized laughter of two young boys. It was a sound she had memorized in her dreams. Without a second thought, she bypassed the woman and bolted up the stone stairs, John close behind her. They ignored the woman’s frantic shouts as they reached the long, echoing corridor of the second floor.
Sarah began flinging open doors, finding empty classrooms and dark dormitories. Finally, at the end of the hall, a door opened, and a tall, familiar man in an immaculate suit stepped out. It was Arthur Vance, the director of the private clinic where Sarah had given birth, and the man who had delivered the tragic news of the nursery fire three years ago.
"Sarah. John," Arthur said, his voice chillingly calm. "You shouldn't have come here. Some secrets are meant to stay buried."
"You lied to us!" John roared, lunging forward. "Our boys are alive!"
Arthur smiled coldly.
"They are alive, yes. But they no longer belong to you. Their identities have been erased, sold to a wealthy benefactor who funds this entire facility. If you try to take them, I will ensure you are arrested for kidnapping, and you will never see them again."
