A Wealthy Businessman Finds His Estranged Daughter Scrubbing His New Wife's Floors
Previously: When Charles walked into his grand estate early, he expected a quiet evening. Instead, he found his estranged daughter on her knees, scrubbing his new wife's floors.
The Cruel Deception
Charles demanded answers, his voice shaking with a mixture of rage and horror. He walked over and grabbed Grace by the arm, pulling her gently but firmly to her feet.
'Grace, look at me. Why are you wearing this? Why are you scrubbing my floors?'
Grace kept her eyes glued to the floor, her shoulders shaking. Evelyn stepped off the stairs, her heels clicking sharply against the stone. She took a slow sip of her wine, her expression perfectly composed.
'Don't make a scene, Charles,' Evelyn said smoothly. 'She needed a job, and I was generous enough to offer her one. After all, she wasted all that college tuition money you sent her, didn't she?'
'That's a lie!' Grace cried out, her anger finally overcoming her fear. She looked at her father, tears streaming down her face. 'Dad, I never wasted the money. I never got it! Evelyn told me you cut me off. She said you never wanted to see me again because I opposed your marriage.'
Charles felt the room spin. Three years ago, shortly after his first wife passed away, he had married Evelyn. Almost immediately, his relationship with Grace had fractured. He had been sending tens of thousands of dollars to Grace's university account, only to receive notifications that she had dropped out and vanished. Evelyn had shown him forged letters and emails, supposedly from Grace, claiming she wanted nothing to do with his 'dirty money' and had run off with a boyfriend.
'Evelyn... what did you do?' Charles whispered, turning to his wife. His face was pale, his eyes wide with a terrifying realization.
Evelyn's mask of elegance began to slip, replaced by a cold, calculating sneer. She set her wine glass down on a nearby console table with a sharp clink.
'I did what was necessary to secure our future, Charles,' she said coldly. 'Your daughter was a parasite. I simply redirected your resources where they belonged—to us.'
