A Wealthy Businessman Finds His Long-Lost Daughter Scrubbing His Mansion Floor
Previously: When wealthy businessman Robert returned home early, he didn't expect to find his estranged daughter kneeling on his marble floor in a maid's uniform—or learn the dark truth behind her presence.
The Stepmother's Cruel Game
Robert turned to his wife, his voice shaking with a mixture of confusion and rising anger. "Diana, what is the meaning of this? Why is my daughter scrubbing our floors?" he demanded, stepping between Diana and Hannah.
Diana took a slow sip of her wine, her expression remaining perfectly calm.
"Oh, so she finally decided to tell you?"she purred, looking down at Hannah with disdain.
"She applied for the housekeeping position two weeks ago under her mother's maiden name. I recognized her immediately, of course. But since she was so desperate for money, I decided to be charitable and give her a job."
Hannah stood up slowly, wiping her wet hands on her apron. Her voice, though trembling, carried a fierce determination.
"That's a lie, Dad! She didn't hire me out of charity. She threatened me. She told me if I ever tried to contact you directly, she would make sure my mother's medical treatments were canceled. She knew Mom was dying in the hospital!"
The revelation hit Robert like a physical blow. Five years ago, after a bitter divorce fueled by Diana's manipulation, Robert had lost contact with Hannah and his ex-wife, Sarah. He had been led to believe they wanted nothing to do with him. Now, looking at his daughter's tear-stained face and worn-out clothes, the painful truth began to dawn on him. Diana had systematically kept his daughter away from him, using her wealth and influence to isolate them.
Diana scoffed, crossing her arms.
"Please, Robert. She's just trying to extort money from you. Her mother's illness is probably just a sob story to get back into your will. Don't let her manipulate you."
But Robert was no longer listening to his wife. He looked at Hannah, seeing the raw pain and honesty in her eyes, and realized how blind he had been to the monster living under his own roof.
