Previously: When Anna took a job as a maid in the grand estate of William and Eleanor, she never expected the couple's triplet boys to run into her arms, crying out 'Mommy.'

The Secret in the Cradle

"Get away from my children!" Eleanor shrieked, her voice trembling with a mixture of fear and rage. She rushed forward, grabbing the boys by their shoulders and trying to pull them away from Anna. But the triplets resisted, wrapping their small arms tighter around the maid's neck. The scene was chaotic, a devastating tug-of-war of love and confusion in the middle of the opulent estate.

William stepped between them, his hand raised defensively. "Anna, is it? I suggest you explain yourself right now before I call the police. Why are my sons calling you their mother?"

Anna slowly stood up, wiping her tears with the sleeve of her uniform. She looked directly into Eleanor's panicked eyes, her voice shaking but resolute. "Because I am their mother, Eleanor. I am the woman who carried them for nine months."

"That's impossible! We adopted them through a private agency. Their birth mother signed away her rights and... and she passed away!" Eleanor stammered, looking to her husband for support.

Anna reached into her apron pocket and pulled out a worn, laminated photograph. It showed a younger Anna in a hospital bed, holding three tiny, newborn babies, each wearing a tiny blue cap. On her wrist was a hospital band matching the names and dates of the triplets' births. "The agency lied to you," Anna whispered. "I never signed my rights away. My ex-husband forged my signature and sold my babies to that agency while I was recovering from a post-birth coma. By the time I woke up and fought through the courts, the agency had vanished, and so had my boys."

William took the photograph, his face turning an ashen grey as he stared at the undeniable proof. The boys looked exactly like the infants in the photo, and Anna's eyes were identical to his sons' eyes.
