My Wealthy Father Found Me Scrubbing Floors For His Cruel New Wife
Previously: When Mia took a maid job at a luxury mansion, she had no idea her estranged, wealthy father owned it—or that his cruel new wife was about to exploit her.
A New Beginning
The silence in the foyer was deafening. George stepped closer to Mia, his eyes filled with tears of regret. "Mia, I swear to you, I sent money. I wrote letters every month. I was told you both hated me."
Mia shook her head. "We never received a single dollar, George. We lived in a cramped apartment, and Mom died thinking you forgot about her."
George turned slowly to Patricia, whose pale face confirmed his worst fears. Patricia had been his accountant before they married. She had managed his personal finances and legal correspondence for years. With a trembling voice, George demanded, "What did you do, Patricia?"
"George, I did it for us!" Patricia pleaded, taking a desperate step forward. "Your past would have ruined our reputation! I diverted the trust fund payments to protect your image!"
The betrayal was too deep to measure. George looked at the woman he had married, feeling nothing but disgust. "Get out," he said quietly, his voice dangerously calm. "Pack your things and leave. My lawyers will contact you tomorrow."
Patricia opened her mouth to argue, but seeing the icy resolve in George's eyes, she turned and fled up the stairs in tears.
George turned back to Mia, sinking to his knees on the very floor she had been scrubbing. He took her soapy, calloused hands in his. "I can never make up for the years we lost, Mia. But please, let me start trying today. You will never have to scrub another floor again."
Mia looked down at her father. She saw a broken man genuinely desperate for forgiveness. For the first time in years, the heavy burden of anger lifted from her chest. She squeezed his hands back, nodding slowly.
True wealth is not measured by the grandeur of one's mansion, but by the courage to heal broken bonds and cherish the family we have left.
