Previously: When arrogant Gregory confronted a humble mechanic to stop him from dating his daughter, he never expected the young man's powerful father to arrive and turn his world upside down.

The Falling of an Empire

Gregory’s smirk slowly began to falter as he registered the name of the man standing before him. Lawrence Vance was not just any wealthy older man; he was the CEO of Vance Global, the city's largest commercial real estate and investment conglomerate. Gregory's own investment firm leased its high-rise office directly from one of Lawrence’s holding companies, and his biggest clients were all secured through Vance’s banking networks.

The realization hit Gregory like a physical blow. The smugness drained from his face, leaving him pale and trembling. "M-Mr. Vance?" Gregory stammered, frantically pulling off his sunglasses. "I... I had no idea. This boy... he works in a garage! Why is your son working as a mechanic?"

Lawrence took a step closer, his towering presence dwarfing the terrified businessman.

"My son wanted to learn our transit and automotive holdings from the ground up,"
Lawrence said, his voice cold as steel.
"He refused a desk job. He wanted to earn his respect through hard work, something you clearly know nothing about. You think your expensive suit makes you better than the men who keep this city running?"

Without breaking eye contact, Lawrence pulled out his phone and speed-dialed his chief legal officer. "Terminate the lease on the 5th Avenue office space for Gregory's firm immediately," Lawrence ordered into the receiver. "And call the board of Vanguard Bank. Tell them we are pulling our credit lines from his portfolio. Effective today."

Gregory gasped, clutching his chest. "You can't do this! That will ruin me! I'll lose everything!"

Before Lawrence could answer, the garage door opened again, and Gregory's daughter, Chloe, rushed in. She had driven there in a panic, fearing what her father might do to the man she loved.
