Previously: When a wealthy elitist aggressively confronted a humble young mechanic for dating his daughter, he had no idea the boy's father was the most powerful man in the city.

Marcus’s smug smile slowly began to falter under the weight of Robert's intense stare. He tried to puff out his chest, adjusting his sunglasses to regain his composure. He didn't know who this older man was, but he wasn't about to let some stranger intimidate him in front of a lowly mechanic.

A Sudden Shift of Power

"And who do you think you are?"

Marcus sneered, crossing his arms.

"I am Marcus Vance. I own Vance Enterprises, and I won't have my daughter associating with grease monkeys. If you're his father, you should teach your boy his place."

Robert didn't blink. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his phone, and made a single, brief call.

"Arthur, pull the funding for the Vance plaza project. Yes, immediately. And notify our legal team to foreclose on their commercial leases,"

Robert said calmly before hanging up. Marcus froze. His face drained of all color, turning a pasty white. Vance Plaza was his company's flagship project, entirely funded by the city’s premier investment firm, Vanguard Holdings. Without that funding, his company would face instant bankruptcy.

"You... you're Robert Vanguard?"

Marcus stammered, his voice suddenly squeaky.

"The Chairman of Vanguard Holdings?"
"I am,"

Robert replied, stepping closer until he was inches from Marcus's face.

"And the 'grease monkey' you just assaulted is my son, Leo. He chose to work here to learn the automotive business from the ground up before taking over our logistics empire. But you thought he was just an easy target."

Marcus began to sweat profusely. He looked from Robert to Leo, suddenly realizing the catastrophic error he had made. He had just physically assaulted the sole heir to a multi-billion-dollar empire—the very empire that held his entire life’s work in the palm of its hand.

"I... I didn't know,"

Marcus whispered, his arrogance completely shattered.

"Please, Robert, it was a misunderstanding. I was just looking out for my daughter, Clara."
