My Wealthy Fiancé Found Me Bruised and Crying in His Restaurant Kitchen
Previously: When Matteo burst into his restaurant's kitchen, he expected a routine inspection. Instead, he found his ex-wife Elena bruised, weeping, and facing his cruel fiancée Victoria.
Matteo took a slow, deep breath, purging the last remnants of his affection for the woman in the red dress. The illusions were gone. He reached into his pocket, slipped off the heavy diamond engagement ring he had bought for Victoria, and let it drop onto the greasy kitchen floor. It clinked against the metal drain and rolled into the shadows.
A New Beginning
"The wedding is off,"
Matteo said, his voice steady and absolute.
"And if you or your family ever come near Elena, Lily, or myself again, I will personally ruin everything your father has built. I have the security footage of this kitchen, Victoria. I know exactly what your bodyguard did."
Victoria gasped, her elegant facade completely shattering into a mask of pure panic.
"You can't do this! You need my family's investment to keep this restaurant chain alive!"
"I don't need anything that belongs to a monster,"
Matteo replied coldly.
"Get out of my restaurant. Now."
Screaming in frustration, Victoria grabbed her designer purse and stormed out of the kitchen, the heavy doors swinging violently behind her. Once she was gone, the kitchen fell into a peaceful quiet. Matteo turned back to Elena. Without another word, he pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly as she finally let out the tears she had held back for five long years.
"I'm so sorry, Elena,"
he murmured into her hair.
"I should have looked harder. I should have known."
"She made me feel so small, Matteo,"
Elena whispered, clutching his suit jacket.
"But I only stayed to protect Lily."
"You don't have to run anymore,"
Matteo promised, kissing her forehead.
"We are going to be a family again. Real this time."
Within months, the scars of the past began to heal. Matteo helped Elena open her own boutique bakery, and together, they watched their daughter Lily laugh under the warm sun. True strength isn't found in wealth or status, but in the courage to protect the ones we love and stand up against the shadows of betrayal.
