Previously: When a wealthy groom ruthlessly humiliated an elderly maid at his lavish wedding, a distinguished guest stepped in—only to recognize the silver pendant around her neck and uncover a decades-old family secret.

The Secret of the Pendant

The wedding guests erupted into hushed whispers as David remained on his knees, holding the hand of the elderly maid. Marcus laughed nervously, looking around the room for support.

"Uncle David, have you lost your mind? She is a servant. My aunt died forty years ago in a ferry accident. This woman is just an impostor trying to steal your money!"

But David ignored his nephew entirely. His eyes were locked onto Elena's, searching the depths of her gaze. The familiarity was undeniable. "Elena, it is you," he wept, clutching her hand. "How is this possible? I searched for you for years. They told me you were gone."

Before Elena could speak, David's sister, Beatrice, rushed forward from the VIP table. Her face was a mask of sheer panic. "David, don't listen to this nonsense! Security, get this crazy woman out of here immediately!" she screamed, her voice shrill with desperation.

Her sudden panic only confirmed David's suspicions. He stood up, towering over his sister and his nephew. "No one touches her," David warned, his voice cold as ice. He turned back to Elena, gently helping her to her feet.

"Tell me the truth, Elena. Why did you leave me? Why did you let me believe you were dead?"

Elena wiped her tears, her voice shaking as she looked at Beatrice. "I didn't want to leave you, David," she whispered. "After the ferry accident, I was in a coma for months. When I woke up, Beatrice found me first. She told me that your family’s business was on the verge of bankruptcy, and that my medical bills and my lower-class background would ruin your social standing. She threatened to destroy your life if I ever returned to you. She paid off the hospital to declare me dead and forced me to run away."
