A Wealthy Man Laughed at a Poor Boy's Promise, But One Touch Changed Everything
Previously: When a wealthy, wheelchair-bound businessman mockingly promised a million dollars to a poor street boy who claimed he could heal him, he never expected a miracle to actually happen.
The Miracle and the Betrayal
For the first time in five years, Thomas felt the prickle of life in his toes. The cold, dead weight of his legs vanished, replaced by a tingling sensation that rushed up his spine. Slowly, trembling with a mixture of terror and hope, Thomas gripped the armrests of his wheelchair and pushed himself upward.
The entire restaurant fell into a stunned silence. Patrons dropped their forks, and waiters froze in their tracks. Thomas stood completely upright. He took one step forward, then another. Tears welled in his eyes as he realized the impossible had just happened. He was walking.

But the miracle was instantly interrupted by chaos. Two burly security guards grabbed the young boy by his shoulders.
"Get this street kid out of here!" the manager shouted.
Thomas tried to yell for them to stop, but his voice was drowned out. Just then, his partner Richard arrived, looking pale and nervous.
"Thomas! This is a scam! Don't let them trick you!" Richard hissed, trying to pull Thomas back to the table.
But Thomas shook him off and rushed outside. By the time he reached the street, the boy was gone. However, lying on the pavement was a small, tattered notebook the boy had dropped. Thomas picked it up and opened it.
Inside was a list of wealthy, disabled individuals in the city. At the very bottom, Thomas’s name was written in bold ink. Next to it was a chilling note: "Target chosen by Richard. Miracle to be performed on Tuesday."
Thomas’s blood ran cold. He turned to face Richard, who had followed him outside.
"Explain this, Richard," Thomas demanded, holding up the notebook.
Richard’s face drained of color. Sensing he was caught, his expression turned dark and desperate.
"It’s not what you think, Thomas," Richard whispered nervously. "I did it for us. The kid... his family owes me. I knew about his gift, and I needed you back on your feet so we could close the merger."
