Previously: When nineteen-year-old Ted crashed a billionaire's party begging for help, he was met with cold mockery. But a simple wooden flute and a torn photo changed everything.

A Ghost from the Past

The revelation struck Alistair like a physical blow. The woman in the torn photograph was Sarah, his first love. Forty years ago, before he amassed his billions, Alistair had been a passionate young man who loved Sarah deeply. But his ambition had consumed him. When his wealthy family demanded he marry a woman of status to secure his inheritance, Alistair made a ruthless choice. He abandoned Sarah, leaving her with nothing but a broken heart and the wooden flute he had carved for her during their happier days.

He had never known she was pregnant. He had never known he had a son, let alone a grandson standing before him in rags.

'Get inside. Now,' Alistair commanded, his voice shaking as he grabbed Ted by the arm, ignoring the stunned whispers of his elite guests.

He dragged the boy into his private, oak-paneled study and slammed the door shut. Alistair snatched the torn photograph, his hands trembling violently as he stared at the face of the woman he had betrayed for wealth. The haunting melody Ted had played was a lullaby Alistair himself had composed for Sarah.

'Is this... is Sarah still alive?' Alistair asked, his cold demeanor completely shattered.

'Barely,' Ted spat, his eyes flashing with a mix of anger and grief. 'She is in a charity ward at the county hospital, fighting a severe lung infection. She didn't want me to come to you. She kept your secret to protect your precious reputation. But she is dying, Alistair! I couldn't let her die just to keep your conscience clean.'

Alistair stared at the boy—his grandson. He saw his own stubborn eyes reflected in Ted’s face, masked by years of poverty and struggle. The immense guilt of his past decisions crashed down on him, suffocating his pride.
