The laughter and clinking of champagne glasses echoed from the grand living room of the upscale estate, but inside the pristine, marble-tiled kitchen, a silent tragedy was unfolding. Chloe stood before the massive sink, her hands submerged in soapy water, hot tears streaming down her face. She wore a simple checkered apron over her party dress, looking entirely out of place in the high-end home she shared with Justin.

Suddenly, the heavy double doors swung open. Justin stepped in, his navy blazer slightly wrinkled, his face a mask of sudden concern. The festive atmosphere of his promotion party faded the moment he saw Chloe’s tear-stained cheeks. Behind her stood his mother, Eleanor, looking regal and utterly unbothered in her dark gold designer gown.

"What is going on in here?" Justin demanded, his voice dangerously low.

Eleanor scoffed, waving a manicured hand dismissively.

"Don't be so dramatic, Justin," she replied coolly. "She just wanted to feel useful. Someone had to clean up, after all."

Justin ignored his mother, stepping closer to Chloe. He gently took her by the waist and untied the checkered apron, tossing it onto the counter. He looked into her eyes, his heart breaking.

"Look at me, Chloe," he pleaded softly. "Did you really want to wash dishes during our celebration?"

Chloe sniffled, her voice trembling as she finally let the painful truth slip out.

"No," she whispered, glancing fearfully at Eleanor. "She told me my place was in the kitchen because... because I'm only the mother of your daughter, not a real member of this family."

Rage flared in Justin’s eyes. He turned to his mother, his finger pointing sharply toward the exit.

"My party is over. Get out of my house right now," he growled.

Eleanor gasped, but Justin didn't care. He pulled Chloe into his arms, holding her tight against his chest as his mother stormed out.
