James followed Emma through the dimly lit streets of the working-class neighborhood. The wind howled, kicking up dry leaves around them. Finally, she stopped in front of a dilapidated, half-abandoned apartment building on the edge of town. She led James up a creaking flight of stairs to a cold, dark room on the third floor.
