Previously: When a ruthless socialite poured wine over her elderly maid, she thought she was in control. But her husband's sudden, violent intervention exposed a family secret that ruined her forever.

Diana laughed nervously, trying to regain her composure. "Your mother? That’s impossible. Your mother was a high-society woman from Boston. This... this peasant couldn't possibly be related to you!"

A Son's True Loyalty

"My adoptive parents were from Boston, yes," Richard explained, his voice steady and cold. "But Agnes is the woman who gave birth to me. She was seventeen, homeless, and desperate. She gave me up so I could have a future, but she never stopped loving me. When I finally tracked her down years ago, she refused to take a single dime of my money. She didn't want to ruin my high-society life. The only thing she asked for was to be near me. That’s why she took this job."

Agnes covered her face, sobbing quietly. She had spent years working in silence, content just to catch glimpses of the boy she had surrendered decades ago. She had endured Diana’s cruelty just to breathe the same air as her son.

"I let her work here because she insisted," Richard continued, "but I will never forgive myself for letting your toxic poison reach her. It ends today."

Richard reached into his breast pocket and pulled out a thick white envelope, tossing it onto the marble island. "Those are divorce papers. And underneath them is a complete forensic audit of your family's charity foundation. I know about the embezzlement, Diana. If you fight this divorce, or if you ever speak a word of this to anyone, I will hand those files directly to the federal prosecutors."

Diana stared at the envelope, the color completely draining from her face. For the first time in her life, she was entirely powerless.

Richard knelt back down, gently helping Agnes to her feet. He took off his stained suit jacket and wrapped it around her frail shoulders. Together, mother and son walked out of the cold marble kitchen, leaving Diana alone in her hollow empire. Agnes had sacrificed her youth to give her son a life, and in return, her son had sacrificed his wealth to give her back her dignity.

True nobility is not found in a wealthy title or a pristine mansion, but in the fierce, unconditional love that binds a family together through the darkest storms.
