Previously: When Sarah wore her mother's green jade pendant to a high-society gala, she expected a long night of serving champagne. Instead, a wealthy woman's shock changed her life forever.

The Secret of the Jade Pendant

The ballroom erupted into chaos. Security guards rushed forward, and someone shouted to call 911. Sarah stood frozen, staring at the unconscious woman on the floor. Within minutes, paramedics arrived and rushed Eleanor to the hospital, accompanied by her frantic family. Sarah was dismissed from her shift, her mind spinning with a thousand questions. Why had her mother’s name caused such a violent reaction in one of the richest women in the country?

When Sarah returned to her modest apartment, she immediately showed the jade pendant to her mother, Marion, who was resting in bed. Marion’s health had been failing for months, but when Sarah recounted the night's events, Marion's eyes filled with tears. With a trembling voice, Marion finally confessed the truth. She had not always been a poor seamstress. Thirty years ago, she was Marion Sterling, Eleanor’s only daughter.

Marion had fallen in love with a young artist from the wrong side of the tracks. Eleanor, obsessed with preserving the family's high-society status, gave Marion an ultimatum: leave the man or be disowned. Marion chose love. Before she left, Eleanor had handed her the green jade pendant—a priceless family heirloom—telling her it was the last thing she would ever receive from the family.

The very next morning, Sarah received an unexpected phone call. It was Eleanor's personal assistant, demanding that Sarah come to the private wing of the hospital immediately. Eleanor had regained consciousness and refused to speak to anyone until she saw the girl with the jade pendant.

Sarah arrived at the hospital, her heart in her throat. As she entered the luxury suite, Eleanor looked frail, stripped of her glamorous party facade. Her eyes locked onto Sarah, tears spilling down her wrinkled cheeks.

"You look just like her," Eleanor whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. "Please, tell me. Is my daughter still alive?"
