Previously: When Eleanor threw a handful of coins on the bakery floor to humiliate a struggling young girl, she didn't expect the silent baker to step in and change everything.

A Stand Against Cruelty

Eleanor let out a cold, dismissive laugh as she watched Clara crawl on the floor, desperately searching for the dropped coins. "If you can't afford to shop here, go to a soup kitchen. People like you shouldn't be allowed in decent establishments," she said, adjusting her trench coat. She turned to the counter, expecting immediate service, but Arthur didn't move. He stood completely still, his eyes locked on Eleanor's smug face.

Arthur slowly wiped his hands on his apron, stepped out from behind the bakery counter, and walked straight toward the two women. Instead of taking Eleanor's order, he knelt down on the hard floor beside Clara. Gently, he helped the sobbing girl gather the remaining coins, placing them softly back into her trembling palms.

"Are you alright, child?" Arthur asked, his voice filled with a fatherly warmth that made Clara sob even harder.

Clara nodded weakly, clutching the pennies to her chest. Eleanor scoffed loudly, crossing her arms. "Are you seriously helping her instead of serving me? I want this trash thrown out of the store immediately! Do you know who I am? My husband is the regional manager of this entire supermarket chain!" she demanded, her voice echoing throughout the aisle.

Arthur slowly stood up, towering over Eleanor. The gentle baker's demeanor vanished, replaced by a cold, unyielding authority. He pulled a pristine smartphone from his pocket, entirely out of character for a simple baker. "I know exactly who you are, Eleanor," Arthur said quietly. "And I think it is time your husband learned how his wife conducts herself in public." Eleanor's face suddenly paled as Arthur dialed a number, his thumb hovering over the call button.
