My Wedding Was Interrupted When a Homeless Woman Handed Me a Shocking Hospital Photo
The afternoon sun filtered through the glass dome of the luxurious botanical garden pavilion, casting a warm, golden glow over the assembled guests. Richard stood on the wide stone stairs, the fabric of his modern black suit feeling suddenly tight against his chest. Beside him, Olivia looked like an angel in her elegant bohemian lace dress, clutching a vibrant bouquet of wildflowers. It was supposed to be the perfect day, the culmination of a three-year romance.
But the silence that descended upon the pavilion was not one of reverence. It was a suffocating, tense silence sparked by the sudden appearance of an uninvited guest. An older woman, gaunt and visibly exhausted, climbed the stone stairs. Her faded, oversized denim jacket was stained, and her wild gray-brown hair clung to her face. She looked entirely out of place amidst the sea of silk dresses and tailored tuxedos.
Richard stepped forward, instinctively shielding Olivia. His heart hammered against his ribs as he confronted her.
"You can't be here," he whispered, his voice tense but quiet, desperately trying to prevent a scene.
The woman didn't flinch. She looked up at him, her eyes shining with a desperate, raw emotion that made Richard's breath catch. She didn't look like an intruder; she looked like someone who had traveled across the world just to stand on these steps.
"That's okay. Just check your phone," she whispered back.
Frowning, Richard reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. Olivia leaned in, her brow furrowed in confusion. A single message from an unknown number sat on the screen. Richard tapped it, and an old, digitized photograph loaded. It was a hospital photo of a young woman holding a newborn baby, the hospital band clearly showing his birth date. Richard stared at the screen, his face draining of color.
"This photo..." he whispered in disbelief.
The older woman let out a ragged sob, tears cutting paths through the dust on her cheeks.
"I told you I'd find you," she wept.
Olivia's grip on her wildflower bouquet tightened until her knuckles turned white. Panicked, she looked from the woman to her trembling groom.
"Who is she?" Olivia demanded.
