Previously: David was forced by his ruthless wife to banish his elderly mother into the cold rain with only a sack of rice, but a hidden envelope inside changed their lives forever.

The Storm Breaks

The temporary peace was shattered the very next morning. Sarah, meticulous and obsessed with control, was reviewing their private financial accounts when she noticed a sudden, massive withdrawal from David's personal savings. It was money he had kept separate, meant for emergencies. Instantly, her suspicion flared into a blinding rage. She knew David's mother had been pleading for help with her medical bills, and she quickly put the pieces together.

Without warning David, Sarah grabbed her car keys and drove furiously to Mrs. Rose's small cabin. David, realizing his wife had discovered the missing money, pursued her in a desperate panic, praying he wouldn't be too late. But when he burst through the cabin door, his worst fears were realized. The quiet sanctuary of his mother's home had been desecrated.

Sarah stood in the center of the room, her face twisted in a mask of pure fury. The burlap sack had been violently thrown across the floor, scattering white grains of rice like snow over the rustic wooden planks. In her manicured hand, Sarah brandished the white envelope, her eyes gleaming with malicious triumph. Mrs. Rose was cowering in the corner, clutching her chest, her breathing shallow and ragged as she wept under the barrage of insults.

"You pathetic old thief!"
Sarah shrieked, pointing a finger at the elderly woman.
"You manipulated my husband into stealing from our family! This is grand larceny!"

She turned her venomous gaze to David as he entered, holding up her phone. "You have two choices, David," Sarah sneered. "You sign the divorce papers today, giving me full custody of the kids and the entire estate, or I call the police right now. Your precious mother will spend her remaining years in a prison cell." David stood frozen, caught between the woman he had sworn to protect and the monster he had married.
