My Wife Kept My Daughter Sick for Years Until a Brave Boy Exposed the Truth
Previously: When James sat down for lunch with his fiancée Amelia, he expected a peaceful afternoon. Instead, a local boy stepped forward with a terrifying accusation that shattered his entire world.
The Web of Lies Unravels
James stared at the bottle in his hand, the weight of it feeling heavier than lead. He looked up at Amelia, the woman he had promised to marry, the woman he had trusted with his daughter's life.
"Amelia, what is this?"he demanded, his voice dangerously low.
"What have you been giving my daughter?"
Amelia’s eyes darted around the crowded terrace, where other diners were now staring in shocked silence. She forced a high-pitched, nervous laugh, stepping forward to touch James's shoulder.
"James, darling, don't listen to this. He's just a troubled neighborhood kid. Lily is sick, you know that. She's having a temporary delusion."
"She's not lying!"Jack shouted, stepping protectively in front of Lily.
"Yesterday, Lily forgot to take her afternoon dose because she was playing at my house. By dinner time, she told me she could see the outlines of the trees. We knew something was wrong. My older brother is a chemistry student at the university. We took one of her old bottles from the trash and he ran a quick test on it!"
James stood up, towering over the table, his chest heaving.
"What did he find, Jack?"
The boy looked straight at Amelia, who was now trembling violently.
"It's a powerful combination of heavy sedatives and specialized ophthalmic dilators. It wasn't curing her, James. It was keeping her pupils dilated and her mind sluggish. It was making her blind!"
A collective gasp echoed from the neighboring tables. James turned his gaze back to Amelia, his heart breaking into a million pieces. The woman he loved had systematically poisoned his innocent daughter.
"Why?"James roared, the pain tearing through his throat.
"Why would you do this to her?!"
Realizing she was cornered, Amelia’s sweet demeanor vanished, replaced by a cold, desperate glare.
"Because you were going to send her away to that boarding school in Europe!"she hissed.
"If she was healthy, you wouldn't need me anymore. I wanted a family, James. I needed you to need me!"
