Previously: When elegant Diana tried to kick a crying five-year-old girl out of her father-in-law's grand charity gala, she didn't expect the child to hold the key to a twenty-year-old family tragedy.

A Dark Betrayal Revealed

Albert stood up so violently that his chair scraped loudly against the marble floor, cutting through the ambient chatter of the ballroom. Ignoring the shocked gasps of his distinguished guests, the billionaire rushed down from the stage. He pushed past socialites and waiters, his eyes locked entirely on the crying little girl. Diana, sensing the sudden shift in the room, tried to quickly usher Nora toward the side exit, calling out to the security guards.

"Albert, please, don't let this ruin the evening,"
Diana pleaded, trying to maintain her polished smile.
"It’s just a lost street child. I’ll have security handle it quietly."

"Step away from her, Diana!"
Albert roared, his voice echoing off the high ceilings. He dropped to his knees on the hard floor, completely unbothered by the dust on his custom suit. He gently took the locket from Nora's tiny hand and pressed the small clasp. The locket popped open, revealing a faded photograph of a smiling teenage girl. It was Lily, Albert's eldest daughter who had vanished twenty years ago after a bitter family dispute.

"Where did you get this, sweetheart?"
Albert choked out, tears streaming down his face.

"My mommy gave it to me,"
Nora sobbed.
"She’s very sick in the hospital down the street. She told me to find the man with the matching heart."

Before Diana could spin another lie, one of the head security guards stepped forward, his face pale with guilt.

"Mr. Sterling, I have to speak up,"
the guard stammered.
"Two hours ago, a woman came to the service entrance. She was extremely weak and begged to see you, showing us that exact locket. But Mrs. Diana ordered us to throw her out into the cold and threatened to fire us if we breathed a word to you."
A collective gasp echoed through the ballroom as the horrifying truth of Diana's cruelty was laid bare.
