Previously: When a smug young champion mocked 68-year-old Diane at the shooting range, he had no idea who she really was. One look at her registration sheet changed everything.

The Ultimate Showdown

The atmosphere in the range was electric. Ten targets were set at the maximum competitive distance. Ryan took his position, his breathing disciplined, his high-tech red-dot sight aligned perfectly. He fired. The shots were impressive—nine tens and one nine. A near-flawless score of ninety-nine points. He stepped back, a triumphant grin plastered across his face.

"Beat that,"
he challenged, gesturing to the lane.

Diane stepped forward. She didn't use modern shooting glasses or custom grips. She wore only her trusty leather jacket and her unwavering focus. She closed her eyes for a brief second, remembering her husband's voice: 'Focus on the breath, Diane. The gun is just an extension of your eye.'

She opened her eyes, raised her vintage pistol, and fired. Each shot was a rhythmic, thunderous clap. One. Two. Three. She didn't hesitate. By the tenth shot, the silence in the room was absolute. George ran the digital scanner over Diane's target. The screen flashed the results.

A perfect one hundred. Ten shots, all dead center, occupying a space no larger than a dime. The gallery erupted into a deafening roar of cheers and applause. Ryan stared at the screen, his mouth hanging open, his face pale with disbelief. He had been completely outclassed by a sixty-eight-year-old woman with a forty-year-old pistol.

George stepped forward, handing Diane the ownership papers of the range, which Ryan's stunned sponsor was forced to sign over. Ryan slowly walked over to Diane, his arrogance completely shattered. He bowed his head.

"I... I'm sorry,"
he muttered quietly.
"I have a lot to learn."

Diane smiled gently, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Respect the past, young man, and it might just teach you how to build a future,"
she said. Diane had not only saved her husband's legacy; she had reclaimed her own, proving that true passion and mastery never grow old.
