The air inside the Highway 9 Diner smelled of stale grease and cheap tobacco. Harper’s boots clicked softly on the cracked linoleum as she walked down the narrow aisle, her auburn ponytail swaying. She could feel the heavy gaze of the patrons on her, but her eyes were locked on the back booth. Her heart hammered against her ribs, but her face remained a mask of pure determination.

Stopping just before the table, she didn't say a word. Instead, she slowly pulled up her grey sleeve. Under the dim, amber light of the roadside diner, the ink on her forearm came into view—a detailed, winged skull, identical to the emblem worn on the jackets of the men sitting before her.

Brody, a heavily bearded biker wearing a faded red bandana, gasped. His hand froze halfway to his beer mug, his eyes widening in absolute shock. Next to him, Colt, a burly, bald biker clad in a rugged leather waistcoat, stood up. His massive frame towered over the booth. The tension in the room spiked instantly.

Before Brody could even utter a threat, Colt lunged forward. He didn't attack Harper; instead, he crouched protectively beside her, his large hand gripping her shoulder. He glared at the rest of the room, his voice booming like thunder.

"Nobody moves. She's with me,"

Colt barked, his eyes daring anyone to challenge him. Then, leaning in close, he urgently whispered to her,

"Door, now."

Harper didn't hesitate. She turned and bolted toward the exit, the heavy wooden door swinging shut behind her as the diner erupted into a deafening roar of confusion and anger. She had found the man she was looking for, but she had also just walked straight into a hornet's nest.
