The Bitter Eviction

The afternoon sun cast long, amber shadows across the grand cobblestone driveway of the estate. Olivia stood frozen, her hand instinctively resting on her growing pregnant belly. At thirty years old, she had never felt more vulnerable, dressed only in a simple ivory cardigan and a navy slip dress. The cold autumn breeze bit at her skin, but it was nothing compared to the icy cruelty of the man standing at the top of the mansion's stone steps.

Her ex-husband, Richard, stood tall in his crisp white button-down shirt, a sneer plastered across his face. With a sudden, violent heave, he threw her heavy leather suitcase down the stairs. It burst open on impact, scattering her private belongings, silk dresses, and cherished photographs across the dusty cobblestones. Standing right beside him was Sarah, his new auburn-haired partner, clad in a dark blue designer dress that screamed of stolen luxury.

"Olivia,"

Richard called out mockingly, his voice dripping with condescension. Sarah let out a soft, mocking giggle, tucking her arm through his as if they had already won the war. Two security guards stood stoically in the background, their faces blank, acting as silent accomplices to the humiliation.

Tears blurred Olivia's vision as she looked at her scattered life. But beneath the heartbreak, a spark of fierce resolve ignited. Kneeling on the cold ground, she reached into the open suitcase and pulled out her phone. Her fingers trembled, but her voice was steady as the call connected.

"Dad, come get me. Bring the legal,"

she whispered into the receiver. Richard and Sarah exchanged amused glances, convinced it was a desperate bluff. But their smiles withered instantly as the roar of powerful engines echoed through the quiet neighborhood. Two massive black SUVs suddenly tore up the driveway, their headlights piercing the golden hour light as they screeched to a halt right behind Olivia.
