The Day John Wick's Son Walked Into a Dusty Biker Bar Seeking Sanctuary
A Sudden Storm in the Dust
The air inside the Rusty Anchor was thick with the scent of cheap whiskey, stale tobacco, and the heavy musk of old leather. Knox sat at his usual corner wooden table, his massive, tattooed arms resting on the scarred surface. He was a mountain of a man, his bald head gleaming under the low-hanging amber lights, his long grey beard dusted with the grit of the highway. To anyone else, he was a terrifying figure. To the underworld, he was a retired shield, a man who had left the blood and bullets behind for a quiet life running a biker bar. But peace in their world was always an illusion.
The double wooden doors burst open, letting in a blinding shaft of afternoon sunlight and a swirl of dry desert dust. A small, frantic figure scrambled inside. It was Eli, a nine-year-old Caucasian boy with messy dark hair, a face streaked with dirt and tears, and a torn t-shirt. The boy scanned the room in sheer panic before his eyes locked onto Knox. He ran straight toward the massive biker, his small sneakers squeaking against the floorboards.
"Please. Help me," Eli pleaded, grabbing Knox's thick forearm with trembling hands.
Knox looked down at the boy, his deep, gravelly voice cutting through the sudden silence of the bar.
"Who's after you?" Knox asked, his brow furrowing as his instincts flared.
Eli panted, his chest heaving as he looked back at the doors.
"They're coming," the boy whispered, terror vibrating in his voice.
"Why here?" Knox pressed, leaning in. "Why my place?"
"My father told me... come here if I was in trouble," Eli explained, his eyes wide and earnest.
Knox stared at him, his heart skipping a beat. He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.
"What's his name?" Knox demanded.
The boy looked up, tears finally spilling over his dirty cheeks, and whispered the name that made Knox's blood run cold.
"John Wick."
Knox froze. The tough outlaw felt a chill seize his spine. He reached into his pocket, his hand shaking slightly as he pulled out a gold continental coin and pressed it into Eli's tiny palm. He stood up abruptly, his chair scraping loudly, and roared to his men.
"Lock the doors!"
