Previously: When a terrified nine-year-old boy named Eli ran into a dusty biker bar begging for help, the massive biker Knox didn't expect the boy's father to be a legendary assassin.

A Voice from the Dead

The tension in the room was suffocating. Every biker had their weapon trained on a mercenary, and every mercenary had a red laser dot painted on a biker's chest. One twitch would turn the dusty bar into a slaughterhouse. Silas took a step closer to Knox, his face twisting into a confident smirk, believing he held all the cards.

Suddenly, a sharp, mechanical ringing broke the silence. It wasn't a cell phone. It was the ancient, rotary black telephone sitting on the wooden pillar behind the bar—a line that had remained dead for over fifteen years. Silas froze. His men glanced at each other, their confidence wavering.

Knox smiled slowly, a dark, knowing grin. He walked backward slowly, keeping his eyes on Silas, and picked up the heavy receiver.

"Rusty Anchor," Knox grunted into the mouthpiece.

He listened for a brief second. The room was so quiet you could hear the wind howling through the broken doorway. Knox turned the speaker on, holding the receiver out toward Silas. A deep, gravelly voice, laced with exhaustion but dripping with absolute lethality, echoed through the bar.

"Silas," the voice said calmly. "You took my boy. I am coming for you."

Silas’s face drained of color. His hands began to shake. The voice was unmistakable. The Boogeyman was alive, and they had just walked into his trap.

"Withdraw," Silas whispered frantically to his men, his bravado completely shattered. "Withdraw now!"

The mercenaries moved back in a panicked rush, scrambling out of the shattered entryway and speeding away into the desert. Knox hung up the phone and walked back to the safe room, unlocking the heavy door. Eli looked up, still clutching the gold coin. Knox knelt down to the boy's eye level, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"Your dad is on his way, kid," Knox said with a warm smile. "You're safe now."

In a world built on blood and debts, some promises are sacred, proving that true loyalty is a shield that even the darkest shadows cannot pierce.
