The atmosphere inside the luxury maternity suite was supposed to be one of pure, uninterrupted bliss. Soft, warm lighting illuminated the private room where Jessica lay holding her newborn daughter, her heart overflowing with a mother’s first love. Outside, the sleek, minimalist corridor of the hospital stretched out like a silent gallery. It was a world of sterile white walls and highly polished floors, separated from Jessica’s room only by a thick, soundproof glass window. Her husband, Thomas, dressed in a sharp charcoal grey blazer, had stepped out moments before, claiming he needed to take an urgent business call. But his true intentions were far more sinister.

Through the glass window, Jessica’s eyes drifted to an elderly woman slowly walking down the hallway. She wore a beige trench coat and a patterned headscarf, looking fragile, tired, and completely out of place in the high-end private wing of the hospital. In her arms, she cradled a simple, heavy paper grocery bag. Suddenly, Thomas appeared in the frame. Without warning or hesitation, his face twisted into a mask of pure, unadulterated rage. He stepped up behind the elderly woman and delivered a violent, brutal kick directly to her back.

The impact was sickeningly loud. The elderly woman, Evelyn, collapsed onto the glossy floor with a painful, breathless groan.

"Ugh!"
she gasped, her hands slipping from her belongings. The paper bag split wide open upon hitting the ground, sending dozens of bright green apples rolling across the pristine, reflective floor.

Inside the room, Jessica’s world shattered in an instant. She stood up, clutching her swaddled infant tightly to her chest, her face pale with absolute horror.

"Ah! Ah!"
she screamed, though her voice was completely muffled by the heavy, soundproof glass. She rushed to the window, frantically slapping her palms against the pane, desperate to stop the madness unfolding right before her eyes.
