Previously: When a weeping little girl interrupted Mark's wedding carrying a torn photograph, he uncovered a devastating family conspiracy that forced him to choose between wealth and his own flesh and blood.

The Secret of the Twins

Mark stared at Johanda, his mind spinning in a vortex of confusion and panic. "What do you mean she's not the only one?" he pleaded, pressing her frail hand to his cheek. "Johanda, please talk to me."

With struggling, shallow breaths, Johanda revealed a truth that shattered Mark’s entire reality. Six years ago, when she discovered she was pregnant, Mark’s mother, Eleanor, had threatened to ruin her family if she didn't disappear. But Johanda hadn't just given birth to Lily.

"I had twins, Mark," Johanda whispered, tears spilling onto her pillow. "A boy and a girl. Your mother’s lawyers... they took him from the delivery room. They said I would go to prison if I fought them. They left me with Lily only because they wanted a male heir for your family legacy."

The realization hit Mark like a physical blow. For five years, his mother had been raising a young boy named Leo, claiming she had "adopted" him from an agency. Mark had spent years playing the doting uncle to Leo, completely unaware that the boy was his own flesh and blood.

Before Mark could process the sheer cruelty of the deception, the hospital door was flung open. Eleanor stood there, flanked by two high-priced family attorneys. Her expression was devoid of warmth, radiating only cold, calculated authority.

"That is enough, Mark," Eleanor said, her voice cutting through the room like ice. "This woman is a liar trying to extort us. You are coming back to the chapel to finish your wedding."
"She’s telling the truth, mother," Mark growled, standing up to face her, his hands shaking with a mixture of grief and pure rage. "Leo is my son. You stole him!"

Eleanor didn't even flinch. She stepped closer, her eyes narrowing. "If you pursue this, I will tie you up in custody battles for the rest of your life. I have the resources to ensure you never see Leo or this little girl again. Step away from her."
