An Arrogant Banker Mocked an Elderly Woman, Unaware of Her Real Power
Previously: When a pompous private banker tries to throw a seemingly homeless elderly woman out of his exclusive lobby, a single scan of a mysterious device turns his world completely upside down.
A Bankrupt Character
The boardroom felt like an interrogation chamber. Arthur stared at the folder, his mind racing to find an excuse, a loophole, anything to save himself. But Eleanor Vance was not a woman who could be easily deceived. She opened the folder, revealing detailed spreadsheets highlighting the unauthorized transfers Arthur had made over the last six months.
"I came here today disguised to test our customer service culture,"
Eleanor said, looking at him with deep disappointment.
"But because I planned to visit, I ordered a full forensic audit of your department last night. It seems my timing was immaculate."
"Please, Mrs. Vance,"
Arthur begged, his voice cracking.
"It was a mistake. I can return the funds. I have a family, a career—"
"You had a career,"
Eleanor corrected him coldly.
"And you chose to throw it away for greed and vanity. You treated a woman you thought was poor with utter contempt, yet you are the one who is truly bankrupt."
She nodded to Richard, who picked up the desk phone and spoke a single word:
"Send them in."
Two uniformed police officers stepped into the boardroom. Within minutes, Arthur’s wrists were bound in cold steel handcuffs. The dream of wealth, the charcoal suit, and the pride he had carried so arrogantly vanished in an instant.
As they led him out through the glass doors of the penthouse, Arthur had to walk back through the very lobby where he had mocked Eleanor. The high-profile client he had been waiting for was standing by the reception desk, watching in utter shock as Arthur was escorted past him in disgrace. Eleanor stood at the top of the marble stairs, looking down at him one last time, proving that true wealth is not measured by the suit you wear, but by the dignity and respect you offer to every human soul you meet.
