The storm raged outside, a fitting backdrop for the drama unfolding within the opulent penthouse. Crystal chandeliers cast a cold gleam on the wet Carrara marble floors, mirroring the lightning that flashed across the city skyline. Dr. Armand Dubois, 46, impeccably dressed in a bespoke tuxedo, sneered into his champagne flute. He was the picture of aristocratic arrogance. Then, she entered. Dr. Martha Vance, 58, a veterinarian, looked utterly out of place. Her rugged chore coat was splattered with mud, her boots heavy with clay. She clutched a worn medical kit, her face etched with the lines of a life spent in hard work, not high society.

The camera tracked from Martha’s mud-caked boots up to Armand’s contemptuous expression. A flash of lightning illuminated his cruel smirk. "Did security let the farm help inside, or did you track barnyard filth across my gala on purpose, woman?" he mocked. Martha remained silent, her jaw clenched, her keen hazel eyes narrowing. Behind Armand, a muffled choking sound erupted. It was Julian, the governor's son, looking pale and distressed.

Suddenly, a violent crash echoed. Julian collapsed, shattering crystal glasses as his body seized. Foam spilled from his lips. Armand gasped, frozen in shock. Martha, however, moved with practiced speed. She knelt amongst the shards of glass, her knees hitting the marble with a dull thud. She pried Julian's eyelid open. "Asymmetric pinpoint pupils, acute diaphoresis, respiratory paralysis—it's blue-ringed octopitoxin from the imported shellfish, not cardiac arrest!" she announced, her voice sharp with clinical authority. Armand could only stare, his throat bobbing in stunned silence.
