Previously: At a lavish gala, a wealthy doctor insults a veterinarian covered in mud. But when disaster strikes, her skills prove far more valuable than his pedigree, exposing a shocking secret.

The Vet's Vengeance

Armand, his arrogance momentarily eclipsed by panic, lunged to shove Martha aside. He knew he was exposed. He had tampered with the shellfish, intending to frame the caterer and cause a scandal that would humiliate his brother, the governor. Julian, his nephew, had stumbled upon his plan and tragically ingested some of the tainted appetizer himself while trying to gather proof. Martha, however, anticipated the move. With brutal efficiency, she intercepted Armand's wrist, her grip like iron. A sickening crack echoed as she twisted his forearm downward, forcing the cardiologist onto his knees amidst the broken glass.

"Touch him and his diaphragm paralyzes in ten seconds, Dubois—stand down or I break your wrist!" Martha’s voice was icy, laced with an unyielding fury that belied her years. Armand, tears welling in his eyes, felt the immense, bone-stopping power of her grip. He was utterly helpless, his expensive tuxedo and title meaningless against her raw strength and expertise. His carefully constructed world of privilege and deceit was crumbling around him.

Martha released him and immediately turned back to Julian. Her steady hands opened her weathered medical kit. With a decisive snap, she broke an ampoule, drawing the clear pralidoxime antidote into a heavy glass syringe. She plunged the needle directly through Julian's tailored trousers into his thigh muscle, administering the life-saving drug with authoritative force. Within moments, Julian's violent convulsions ceased. A ragged gasp tore from his chest as color returned to his lips. "Neurotoxin receptor block complete—pulse eighty, normal sinus rhythm restored," Martha stated calmly, her voice a stark contrast to the surrounding panic.
